Supporting children, families and communities to thrive.

Founded in 2013, the Kindness Collective began as a behind-the-scenes community group with friends and family, on a mission to make Aotearoa a kinder place for all.

Every Kiwi deserves to have what they need to thrive, but should at the very least have the basics; food, clothing, shelter and safety.

The reality is, poverty, hardship, homelessness and family violence statistics continue to climb. One in five children experiences hardship, disabled children are two times more likely to live in poverty, one in five women experience family violence and at least 33% of us experience food insecurity. This isn't the Aotearoa we want to live in, so we fill the gaps in traditional support for those living in hardship.

We are community-led, which means our work is varied. One week we’re packing pyjamas, packing food boxes and the next, planting potatoes. Our unique approach means we go where the need is and help where it matters most.

Kindness is our currency, Aotearoa is our home

We provide wraparound support for those living in poverty or experiencing hardship, by harnessing the power of kindness in our communities, so that everyone thrives.

our purpose & Vision

Our purpose is to harness the power of kindness in our communities to support an equitable future for all people living in Aotearoa, New Zealand.

We are deeply committed to upholding and honouring Te Tiriti o Waitangi as the founding document of Aotearoa, and Tangata whenua as the kaitiaki of this country, land and sea.

Our vision is to create a culture of kindness so Aotearoa is the kindest place on the planet, where no one goes without.
