Our community's flood response

29/1/2023

We’ve been blown away by the number of donations, volunteers, messages of support and offers of help we’ve had in the last two weeks.

We estimate over $220,000 worth of food and essentials have been delivered to affected families thanks to our community effort.

We know through our ongoing work, the need in Auckland with affected families will be ongoing. It will take months for families to rebuild and some won’t be able to at all.

Whilst we’ll keep working with our Community Partners to assist families when needed through referrals, we’ll be starting to work towards helping families to rebuild their futures, with our ‘Future Fund’ programme, which will help affected low-income families purchase new furniture and fridge/freezers that we’ll help fill. More on that soon.

For now, if you want to keep helping, please donate or keep an eye on our Social Media pages to see what we need.

FLOOD RESPONSE

Like many charities and community groups, we have been doing what we can to help our community partners get essentials to families affected by the floods.

We've pretty much emptied out our food bank shelves and spent up at supermarkets but it's not even a drop in the ocean of need, unfortunately.

This week will be quite tough for many struggling families as most kids go back to school, so we'll be providing food, essentials, baby items, clothes and school items to families affected by the floods.

Sing out if you want to help, we'll be at our Mt Eden community hub all week. Email us at hello@kindness.co.nz if you want to drop food or clothes off.
